The Fort Knox Five’s rebel-rousing funk is nothing if not diverse. Kicking off with the laid back rap of ‘Insight’, they immediately shift gear into the party rocking ‘Funk 4 Peace’. And from there they take in dancehall, dubstep and more. It’s a great start to an album that’s wildly over the top and hugely enjoyable. It’s fair to say that this isn’t going to be to everyone’s tastes, however. It’s more than a little camp and far from perfect. Despite this serving of cheese, ‘Radio Free D.C.’ is a fun, colourful record to brighten up the winter days.
